Day #311 - Oxford, MD
June 7th, 2009We woke to an absolutely perfect summer day in Maryland. The high is 83, sunny and low humidity. We got a few boat chores done and went out to explore.
The beach right across the street from the marina was busy.

Right down the street there is a ferry that runs approximately every half hour from Oxford across to Bellevue.

It was busy every time we passed it.
There is a beautiful old church in the center of town.

Not sure the significance of the dog, but we really liked it.

And speaking of animals, we even saw a deer in the field as we rode past.

We decided to meet Patti and Brad out on the deck at Schooners for lunch.

After lunch we did some more riding. The streets are tree lined.

A couple of the businesses around town were a gallery

and the Ruffled Duck Inn.

There is one beautiful house after another. Many are on the water and are priced at several million dollars.

Then we finally found a couple that we thought we might be able to afford.

Although this one is on the water, so probably not.

Apparently the people here at the marina are very generous. However, we didn’t take them up on their offer.

We have really enjoyed our time in Oxford. It is just the way we had pictured a small boating community on the Chesapeake.
Tonight Patti is treating us to the last of her lobsters from the Bahamas. Hate to see those dinners come to an end. Yum!
