Follow us around the Great Loop

Day #108 - Panama City, FL

November 16th, 2008

Had a visitor on our dock this morning (above).  A very cool morning, 42 degrees, high expected to be only 60, but sunny.  Left Destin at 7:30 headed for Panama City. Debated stopping at Sandestin (Baytowne Marina) but being a Sunday decided not much would be open early.

A little rough getting out of the marina and back under the bridge but the Captain handled it masterfully.  Water was a little rough on the GIWW for the first three hours.

A dolphin finally cooperated and let me capture his picture.

About thirty miles into the trip we left the wide intercoastal and entered an area of Cypress Swamps.  I thought Andy had tricked me and we were back on the river system again.  Glad to learn it only lasted about twenty miles and we were back into the open intercoastal waters.

Met up with Bob and Deb again and good to see them. Had them over to the boat for a Captain’s meeting and a few munchies.  We included Jan and Terry from Grape Escape (out of Napa Valley) and we had a great time together.  Beautiful sunset and early to bed.
