Day #105 - Pensacola, FL
November 13th, 2008Woke to a very foggy, warm morning. We finally pulled out of port at 10:00 when the fog cleared. Now it is a beautiful sunny day, high expected to be 79.

We are traveling to Pensacola which is only 30 miles. Beautiful day on the GIWW (Gulf Intercoastal Water Way). Just as I had pictured it, pretty homes, wide channels and finally blue water. We have not really seen blue water since we left the Great Lakes. We have had a couple of dolphin sightings but I decided that trying to get a picture is like getting the fly swatter out, the minute you do, they disappear.

We officially entered Florida at 10:40. We will be exploring this state for the next two and a half months. Yippee!

Pulled into beautiful Palafox Marina in Pensacola at about 1:30. Rinsed the boat off of its salt water and walked into town.

Some beautiful old buildings and a hint of architecture as you might see in the French Quarter in New Orleans.

It is obvious that there is military presence in town as seen in the picture below. It is the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. We were even treated to a bit of an air show by the Blue Angels as this is their home base. They have a performance this weekend and hope to be able to see it over the bay.

Beautiful day, beautiful sunset over Pensacola Bay.
