Day #98 - Mobile, AL
November 6th, 2008
Another beautiful sunny day here in Mobile. Spent the good part of the day running around trying to find a microwave/convection oven to replace the one that died a few days ago. The original one came with the boat and they built the cabinet around it. After MANY stops at Loew’s, Best Buy, Circuit City, Home Depot, Sears and the odd appliance stores we found, we ended up back at Lowe’s and purchased a microwave only unit. Came back and Andy spent most of the day making adjustments, fitting pieces and making trim and it is in. Looks great and he just has to find some varnish to try and make the new trim pieces match the old. Not impossible, but tough.
I spent the day catching up on laundry, bills, phone calls, etc. will cook a nice dinner on board tonight for the hard working captain and call it a day.
They will pull the boat out again tomorrow and pull the shaft, then drop us back in the water. We have arranged for a rental car tomorrow through Monday so we will have wheels and be able to go exploring the area. Looking forward to spending some time on shore and finding out what this area is all about.
