Follow us around the Great Loop

Day #40 - Chicago, IL

September 9th, 2008

Above are our gracious hosts, Ellen and Woody Sutton, at the Chicago “Looper” party held in their beautiful home last evening.  They live on the 15th floor of a fantastic building that overlooks the marina where we are currently docked, Soldier Field and the entire Chicago harbor.  The food was all Chicago style…deep dish pizza, Italian beef sandwiches and Eli’s cheesecake.  Yum!  They even arranged for volunteer drivers to the event and the drivers picked us up at the boat in the pouring rain.  Many thanks to Bob and Myra for our transportation.

The group in attendance represented many facets of the Great Loop.  Some had already completed the trip, others were in progress and yet others were in the planning stages.  It was great information gathering and a wonderful way to spend an evening with people who have the same interests as we do.

Today we spent several hours working on the launch of GasCaptain and making phone calls.  Ryan and Devon have been working so hard and we are hoping to get it all up and running very soon.

Walked and walked and went into town, had lunch, picked up a few groceries and came back to the boat.  A beautiful, cool, sunny day in Chicago (52/67).
