Follow us around the Great Loop

Day #20 - Leland, MI

August 20th, 2008

Woke to another amazing sunrise in Northport after a calm, quiet night in the harbor.  Headed to Leland this morning, also known as Fishtown.

Traveled to Leland on very calm waters in a little under three hours.  What a great little town.  Walked in and strolled for most of the afternoon.  Went to Carlson’s Fish Market and got some smoked whitefish pate to freeze.  Yummy.

John and Karen’s friends, Laurie and Mark, joined us for dinner at The Cove. Came back to the boat and watched an AMAZING sunset. The best one we have seen yet.  Slept well and are ready for another day.

WOW!! How in the world can we ever find a way to thank you guys?
Ten of the best days… ever!! (except maybe last year’s trip)
Mary, thanks for laughing at my jokes (I’m not sure how you could hear
them with your ipod on full blast), & thanks Andy for letting me steer the boat,
it was fun (even though we were at the dock with the engines off).
You Guys are the BEST!!!!!!!!! We’re going to miss you…Who’s going to feed
    us Friday nights?

I see that you are starting your dream trip. I was searching for information on the loop when I came across your new site. I am not sure if this will reach you or not as I could not find an e mail address on your site.
I live in South Haven Michigan. I see that you are now in Ludington. Do you plan to stop in South Haven this week on your trip. If you don’t you will be missing another great town. No sunsets over the islands as in Leland, however, it is a wonderful town with a great harbor and worth spending a day or two before you journey on.

We currently have our home up for sale in South Haven and plan to make the loop when the house sells. Hopefully this year.
Should you have plans to stop in south haven on your journey I would like to stop by the marina and introduce myself. That way you can put a face on the e mails as I watch your journey.

    Kindest Regards,
